I had a pretty decent stay at the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff, with some highlights and a few letdowns. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help out, making me feel welcomed. On the downside, the room could use some updating, since it felt a bit dated and lacked AC. Overall, not a bad experience, especially with the nice pool and breakfast, but there’s room for improvement.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and had a lovely view, but it felt dated with old furnishings and limited power sockets. No air conditioning was a bit of a bummer, though a fan was provided. Overall, it was clean and tidy, which I appreciated.
Service
10.0
Staff were super friendly and helpful at check-in and throughout my stay. They genuinely seemed to care about making my visit enjoyable, which was a huge plus.
Location
6.0
The hotel is in a decent spot, about 10 minutes to Cardiff Bay. It’s pretty easy to get around, though the surrounding area was a bit commercial and not very picturesque.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast had a good selection, but I found it kind of lukewarm. The restaurant atmosphere could use some work, as it reminded me of a school canteen. I’d probably stick to room service next time.
Facilities
7.0
I enjoyed the pool and spa facilities a lot—they were warm and relaxing, which was a nice touch. The gym was basic but adequate for what I needed.

5.2/10

My recent stay at The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff had both highs and lows. The location by the lake was beautiful, offering a lovely view upon waking up. However, I was disappointed by the outdated and somewhat shabby room interiors that didn’t feel fresh, which detracted from my overall experience.

Rooms
6.0
Although my room was clean, the décor felt dated and lacked modern amenities like air conditioning. I also found the lack of accessible power outlets frustrating during my stay.
Service
7.0
The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made a positive impact on my stay. However, more staff presence is needed during busy times, especially in the dining area.
Location
8.0
The hotel is conveniently located near public transport, making it easy to reach Cardiff's city center. The view of the lake was a highlight, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Dining
5.0
While the breakfast offered a good variety, I found some food items undercooked or not served hot enough. The array of options was nice, but better attention to quality is needed.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel boasts good leisure facilities, including the pool and spa area, which were enjoyable. However, they could use some enhancement for a more modern experience.

6.2/10

I had a mixed experience at The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff. While the location was convenient and the beds were comfortable, the service left much to be desired. I found the dining options disappointing with lack of food choices, and there was a notable absence of attention to detail in the restaurant. I might consider staying again if improvements are made.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was spacious and clean, but it felt a bit outdated. I appreciated the size, but not all plug sockets were easily accessible.
Service
6.0
The staff were generally friendly, especially during check-in, but the service during meals was lacking. I waited a long time to be seated and had to deal with inattentive wait staff.
Location
6.0
The hotel is well-located for accessing Cardiff, which I enjoyed. The outdoor terrace by the lake could be a nice spot, but it was a bit neglected.
Dining
6.0
Dining was quite disappointing; the breakfast was lukewarm and the selection was quite limited. Some food items lacked basic quality, which detracted from the overall experience.
Facilities
6.0
The gym facilities were adequate, and I enjoyed the room service, but there was a lack of information provided about the hotel's amenities.

I had a mixed experience at The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff. The staff were incredibly welcoming, especially Dominica at reception, who was quick to resolve our check-in misunderstanding. However, the hotel itself felt a bit dated, with some areas in need of refurbishment. Overall, the location was convenient, but the quality of the breakfast left something to be desired. 😊

Rooms
7.0
The room I stayed in was spacious and clean, but it could use some updates. The bed was huge and comfortable, making it easy to sleep well.
Service
6.0
While the reception staff were friendly and accommodating, the service in the dining area needs improvement. My breakfast experience was disappointing due to a lack of timely food service.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location is excellent for accessing Cardiff, with decent parking facilities, but the immediate area outside felt neglected and uninviting.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was lacking, as there were no eggs at one point and service was slow. The cost for breakfast was also not clearly communicated when I booked.
Facilities
7.0
The swimming pool was enjoyable, especially for my child, although the hot tub was out of order during my visit. Overall, the facilities were decent but not really good.

7.4/10

I was disappointed with my stay at The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff, as I faced issues with service and the dining experience. The staff seemed overwhelmed, especially during breakfast, and the conditions in the dining area were less than ideal. However, the comfortable bed was a positive aspect, allowing me to get some much-needed rest during my visit.

Rooms
5.0
My room felt dated and lacked air conditioning, which made for a restless night as I found myself quite uncomfortable. The cracked sink only added to the feeling of neglect.
Service
5.0
The service experience left much to be desired. I was met with a lack of professionalism, especially when I was abruptly woken up due to a mistake regarding an alleged unpaid tab. Even at breakfast, the staff were not attentive and seemed more focused on their conversations than the guests' needs.
Location
5.0
The location is quite convenient for accessing Cardiff and nearby attractions, which is a definite plus. However, it didn't redeem my overall experience.
Dining
5.0
Dining was a struggle, with cold food being served despite the restaurant being overbooked. There was minimal interaction from the staff, leaving me to clear tables just to find a seat.
Facilities
5.0
The spa facilities were disappointing as well. The jacuzzi was out of order, and although the pool was available, it didn't feel like a luxury experience due to the dated surroundings.
